Harriot Dixon, 1834

This is a traditional sampler with a strawberry border and laid out in bands of flower motifs with chair and flower motif at the bottom. We also have birds and a religious saying in the middle.

Harriot was 10 when she stitched this piece and it is primarily in wool but she used black cotton for the lettering which is worked over 1 thread. The remainder of the sampler is worked over 2 threads using wool fiber.

The original is approximately 43cm (w) x 52cm (h).

This sampler is 241 stitches (w) x 314 stitches (h). The model was stitched on 36ct Fox and Rabbit Desert Taipan with DMC threads. Measurements below use 3” margins for finishing and framing.
