Introducing Sarah Chittleburgh, 1819 which appeared in the Feller Collection : 2 book. This is a Regency Needlework Sampler by Sarah Chittleburgh, in the Norwich School Style. Worked with coloured silks on a linen ground with alphabets, numerals, strawberries, a pair of deer, lions, baskets of fruit and birds, signed and dated ‘Sarah Chittleburgh Aged 12 Years 1918. The cartouches with the stepping stags are very much the dominant motif in Sarah’s sampler. These are flanked by lions, decorative trees which include apple trees. All these are known Norwich Schools markers.
The design size is 145 x 197 stitches.
The original is 32ct and the model has been stitched on 35ct Antique Ivory using AVAS 100/3 silks.
The instructions are detailed per band with pictures from the Antique and accompanied with a 4 page colour with symbols chart.
